    piano  Related - General Music Lab
     
    HMS offers General Music to 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students.  We are especially proud of our piano keyboard lab that offers an electronic midi-keyboard and headphones for 30 students at a time.  Students are instructed in basic piano keyboard skills and can play simple two handed songs by the end of the 7th grade rotation.
     
    General Music also includes listening music history and theory studies and listening exercises featuring our I-Pods and Bose sound system.  Students also spend time in our computer labs finalizing music projects on Powerpoint. General music also incorporates math and writing into our curriculum.
     

      

    Music In Our Schools Month is a month-long event that aims to draw attention to the significance of music education in our schools and our society. The event happens the whole month of March every year. There is a yearly theme, for this year the slogan is Music Touches Lives. Participating schools and other related organizations have various activities and concerts in different venues showcasing the talents of students, teachers, band directors and music supporters.

     

    At Hobart Middle School, we will celebrate our 4th MUSIC IS LIFE WEEK beginning on March 12.  Then music events help to remind our students and staff how much music is apart of our daily life.

     

     

    Pig Races for magazine subscription winners.   Pigs will race to see

    which pig is the fastest for a $50.00 award.  

    There will also be a prize for the best dressed pig.  

    MUSIC ZOO  -  All 6th grade students will visit the instruments

    at the music zoo.   Students will have hands on experience trying out a tuba,

    playing a drum set, and much more!

    BROWNS MUSIC BUS  - Browns Music Bus returns again to HMS

    to perform the history of American Popular Music. 

    Along with Browns Music Bus is our HMS Jazz Ensemble performing a jazz

    tune with them.

    Our Symphonic and Jazz Bands will be performing for the

    elementary 5th grade students.
