Tips and Workshops
Put the puzzle pieces together on children, behavior, and school!
Read with your child:
1. Side By Side-Sit with your child so you can enjoy closeness and share the job of reading the same story, sentence or word.
2. Popcorn Style-The child pops in when they can read along-drops out when they struggle.
3. Echo Reading-You read a sentence with expression then your child reads the same sentence back, trying to model fluency and expression.
4. Mumble Reading-The child is not yet reading silently. They make some sounds or noise as they read. This is okay. Mumble reading disappears when silent reading takes hold.
Keep books in these unexpected places where reading can occur:
-The Breakfast Table (cereal boxes, newspapers, comics, magazines, junk mail)

Instead of asking your child how his/her day was, ask them what questions they asked in school instead.
