• EARLY COLLEGE (COLLEGE CREDIT AT HOBART HIGH SCHOOL)

HHS students can receive college credits while still in high school!

Early College/Dual Credit refers to courses in which high school students have the opportunity to earn both high school and college credits while enrolled at Hobart High School.  Courses are taught by credentialed high school faculty, and offer students the ability to take classes in the comfort of their high school with teachers that they know.  Additionally, those who earn college credits in high school have an increased rate of success in life.

Krystal Villarruel, a 2014 HHS graduate who currently attends Indiana University in Bloomington, is studying Law and Public Policy while serving as an Ambassador to IU.  Thanks to Hobart's Dual Credit program, Krystal graduated with 30 college credit hours, saving her over $10000 in college costs.  To our high school students, she says,"I would encourage students to take as many dual credit classes as they can.  If the opportunity is there, take advantage of it!" She stresses that while the classes are economically advantageous, they also allow students to immediately focus on classes within their fields of study.  Krystal's hard work during high school has continued at college; she will be eligible to graduate a full year ahead of her classmates!  Way to go, Krystal!
